12 Kilos of Dumpling Skin

Posted: January 28, 2006 in Uncategorized
Today is Chinese New Year’s Eve~ Happy Chinese New Year to Everyone!

Even though it’s CNY, I still have to fly today…  But after my pre-flight, the DUTO delayed my flight to 1330, cuz rain in the training area…  So after lunch, I made my way back to OPS and get ready to go fly.  JJ, Betty, and Dana all were scheduled this morning, so they were all delayed to 1330, therefore, we all head to the T/A at the same time  Training area is big… but… not big enough for 4 aircrafts doing the same thing at the same time… Everywhere I turn, I see someone coming my way, below me, or next to me… So after a 15 minutes of practicing stall, steep turn, I head back to Parafiled to do some circuits…

After my flight, I went home to take a shower, and then went to the mess to make our New Year’s Eve dinner~  5, 6 of us were in the kitchen chopping and mixing the fillings for our main course today – Dumplings~  We made two kinds of fillings, one with chives, and one with cabbage and shrimp.  In the end, there were about 40 ppl making the dumplings and we used up 12 kilos of Dumpling Skins!  That’s like… over 1000 dumplings!  And in the end, we even had to use some of the wonton skins too~

After we all enjoyed the fruits of our labor, we did a raffle thing, where everyone pitched in a dollar and we got some red envelopes, the big prize was 28, then 18, then 8, then a few 2 dollar ones~  Then we draw out the raffle tickets and I won the 3rd prize – 8 dollars!!  Good start for the new year~

Now we are just sitting around, not doing anything really…

Haircut Day

Posted: January 25, 2006 in Uncategorized
After another exciting session of PTT at noon, Jet, Alan and I made our way downtown to get our haircuts and dinner.  Now my hair is round  For dinner, I had Dry Stirfry Beef River, and also had some veggies and chicken and duck.

Oh yeah, this morning, we had our shower stall converted.  It used to be just a shower curtain and the water would come right out and flood the bathroom floor, since there isn’t really a stop or step between the shower and the bathroom floor.  Now it’s a comeplete shower stall with door

Tha’s it…

Air Law Half Way Done

After finishing the Air Law Final Exam today, I wasn’t really sure if I’d pass.  But I guess lady luck was on my side, and I passed!!!  That’s the most exciting news today…  Other than that… NadaNil… Zilch… It’s just another day here in boring Parafield…

After school today, the CAL course leaders had a meeting with Mr. Holden, who is in charge of… I seriously have no idea what he is in charge of… Anyway, he said that the school would organize a Chinese New Year thing for us~  With food, decoration, and even Lion Dance  I’d prefer to have 紅包 rather than watching fake lions jump up and down…

Tomorrow is PTT again, then probably head off to China Town for hair cut and dinner…

PTT

Today I did my first sim session… well, not really "sim"… it was just using Flight Simulator 2004 on a computer… not in a real simulator  Anyway, afterwards, I came home, was going to start studying for the Air Law exam tomorrow… but… being me, I didn’t…  Instead, I started watching some of the stuff I’ve downloaded but never watched.  Then I fell asleep around 6… woke up close to 10… man… Now I CAN’T sleep!!  I guess I’ll flip thru some of the Air Law Worksheets… So I don’t feel guilty…

One of these days, I have to find out how to add picture in the middle of these text… and music… and video on this stupid MSN Space

BTW, the Tea Dogs from McDonald’s are pretty cute.  Anyone seen them?  Why do ppl buy it online when they can buy it at McDee’s without paying for shipping?  And why do ppl sell it at the same price as McDee’s? Do they get it cheaper? but how?  Hmm… I guess I should go back to Air Law

Sunday

The weather this morning was still very hot, but in the afternoon, the clouds moved in and it cooled down to high 20s.  That’s a good thing… Hope it’ll stay this way…

That’s it for today… Not a very exciting day…

Melting Point

43 degrees today… or 108F  The sun here is so strong, it burns your skin when you are exposed to it…    How can anything survive in this heat?  And the news says that this is the HOTTEST Summer in over 60 years here in Southern Australia… Why This Year? Why Now? Why Me?

We went to a Vietnamese restaurant for lunch today, I had the same stuff… Pho Dac Biet… It was not bad, but it’s stlill not as good as LA…

Then we went over to Big W and Woolworth to stock up on drinks… We got two 30-pack Diet Coke, two 30-pack Coke, two 36-pack Sunkist (orange soda), and two 36-pack of Solo (lemon soda).  164 cans of soda… It should last us a while…

Tonight we all went to Chinatown to celebrate Victor and Ken’s birthday~  There were 17 of us at the dinner (X14 X3), we looked like a tour group when we were walking on the street…  Afterwards, we went home to watch Red Eye at our house… It was ok at first, but then it falls in to the same old plot as with all the other thriller/suspense movie… And of course, the bad guy dies in the end…

That’s it for today I guess, today’s forcast was 40 degrees, and it was 43  Tomorrow’s forcast is 43…  I don’t even want to think about it…

CAL 13 Graduation

I’ve been busy…

Thursday I did my second navigation flight. Didn’t get lost, so it’s good…  And while taxiing back to the parking area, Mr. Lines, Betty and I did the royal wave to Jet who is pre-flighting his aircraft… hehehehe~   Royal Wave – Same as what the beauty pagent ppl wave… Jet said we looked like a family just got back from a road trip  Which was true in a way, cuz Betty, again, brought some snacks and 仙草蜜 along for the trip, I mean, sortie…   Thanks Betty~

Friday, which is today, we attended CAL 13‘s graduation tonight.  Next time it’ll be CAL 14, then it’ll be our turn~  Can’t wait till that day to come!   Hope I’ll last that long…  Congratulations to them and hope they’ll hang in there for the even tougher road ahead~

Then afterwards, Unit 10 becomes FTA KTV Room 10~  A few instructors and staff came over to sing.  At first, they were a bit shy and won’t sing… but… right at this moment… they are out there singing their lungs out!  Poor Jay has to fly tomorrow at 8 AM  Good thing he’s a deep sleeper… but I think he is still doing his plans for tomorrow’s flight…

Great… now it’s "I Will Survive"… I wonder how much longer they’ll keep singing…
