Food is usually the reason why I drag my ass out of the hotel…
通常唯一會讓我離開旅館的原因就是為了吃而已…

Singapore was surprisingly cooler than Taipei when I arrived that day.  After checking in at the hotel at 5 in the morning, I slept till noon and met up with Viv for my first meal of the day.
那天我到的時候才早上4點多, 到了旅館5點, 睡到中午剛好起來去吃中飯~

On the way to our first meal, we drove past the new Sands hotel and casino.  Which now reminds me, I thought we were going to check it out? What happened?

在去吃中飯的路上, 我們經過了新開的金沙賭場. 現在看到這個照片讓我想起來, 我們不是本來要去看看的嗎? 結果咧?

Lunch was a Ember, a umm… I’m not really sure what type of cuisine it was, Eurasian? Lunch is a 3-course meal, an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert for 38 SGD. Oh, it also comes with tea, coffee, or this fruity soda water thing.

中餐是在一家叫做Ember的餐廳. 應該算是歐亞創意料理吧? 中午一個人38塊錢, 可以選一道前菜, 一道主菜, 一道甜點. 有附麵包, 咖啡/茶/果汁.

The main course, this was yam crusted veal loin. The outside was crispy, and veal was tender.
The coleslaw looking thing is suppose to be Japanese salsa, it’s mainly onions with a miso vinaigrette.

主菜是小牛肉, 外層是脆脆的番薯~ 那碗東西裡面是洋蔥絲, 紅蘿蔔絲還有什麼我也忘了的東西~ 然後用味噌油醋醬拌過. 還滿清爽的.

This is the 12 Hour Cooked Pork Belly. The round thing is apple.
The meat was very tender, and the skin was VERY crispy~

The dessert was apple tart with vanilla ice cream.

甜點是蘋果塔/派配香草冰淇淋. 這是現做的, 上來的時候還熱呼呼的~ 配上冰淇淋~ 讚~ 有沒有人知道台北有沒有這種類似的餐廳啊?

Then we went to the China Town in Singapore, where Viv discovered the market that sells Taiwanese stuff, like kimlan soy sauce and pickled bamboo shoots and stuff~

然後我們去了新加坡的中國城找到了一家有賣台灣東西的超市, 所以以後Vivian不用再從台灣帶金蘭醬油回去了~

This is the Hai-Nan Chicken Rice at Lucky Plaza.
According to Viv, this is the only place that does both the rice and and chicken the right way. I have to say, it was great stuff~ The rice was flavorful and the chicken was tender, but why is it all white meal? Chickens in Singapore don’t have legs?

這家在Lucky購物商場二樓裡面的海南雞飯是很多人推薦的咧~ Viv說有的地方的飯做得好, 但是雞肉不好, 有的地方的雞肉好吃, 但是飯不好吃. 這家是目前他們吃過唯一一家兩樣都弄得有水準的地方~ 確實是很好吃, 不過, 為什麼都是雞胸肉啊? 新加坡的雞都沒有腿的嗎?

我忘了這個地方叫什麼, 反正是一家什麼名牌都有的新開的百貨公司~

And for the last meal of the day, we had the coconut rice.
The rice was cooked with coconut milk or something, it’s very fragrant. When you order, they give you a pile of rice, and you pick out what you want to go with it from a variety of fried stuff. The fried chicken was very crispy and juicy, I like it. The thing wrapped in the green leaf was minced mackeral with spices called “Otah”. It’s almost like a paste, but you can still kind of feel the texture of fish meat in your mouth. The drink was barley water, barley broiled in water… so it’s kinda like a soup? but it’s a drink… hmm… anyway, it’s a pretty good drink to go with the fried and spicy stuff~

然後我們到了一家很有名的椰漿飯的地方. 飯聞起來很香的咧~ 配菜幾乎都是油炸的東西, 他們的炸雞很好吃~ 很脆又多汁~ 另外一個比較特別的就是那個用葉子包起來的東西, 它叫做Otah. 裡面是鯖魚磨成泥加入香料, 吃起來很有南洋風味, 還不錯啦~ 然後配上冰冰涼涼的薏仁水很搭喔~

At the airport, there were a few 747-SP parked at the apron. 747-SP is a shortened version of the 747. Boeing produced these to meet the demand of an airplane for the “long and thin” routes back in the 1970’s. Airlines wanted planes for the routes that are too lengthy for the DC-10 and MD-11’s but needed lesser seats than a standard 747. So the 747-SP (Special Performance) was produced to filled the gap in the market.
It’s quite cute I think~ haha~  From the left, it’s the 747-400 cargo, and then the 747-SP, You can see the SP is much shorter, but with the same big head and tail~

第二天要離開的時候, 看見機場裡面停了好幾台747-SP. 他是波音在70年代為了市場需求縮短了正常版的747而來的型號. 主要是用來飛DC10/MD11飛不到, 但是又不需要747那麼多位子的航線. 照片裡面你可以看到左邊是新航的747-400貨機, 再來就是747-SP. 一樣的頭跟尾, 但是就是短了了很多, 還滿可愛的咧~

Hmm… I don’t feel like writing anything today, so… I guess that’s it~!

Spanish cuisine is a rarity in Taiwan.
西班牙料理在台灣真算是稀有.

Tonight’s restaurant of choice is Bacco Tapas. Located next to Far Eastern Plaza Hotel on Tun-Hua South Rd. Same owners of Bacco, the lounge bar on An-He Rd. I been meaning to give it a try for a while, but I my list of restaurants to try got way too long, and I kept on forgetting to come here.
今天的晚餐是在一家叫做Bacco Tapas的餐廳. 他就在遠企旁邊的巷子裡面. 安和路上面的Bacco跟他是同一個老闆. 我很久以前就想去試試看了, 只是我那個餐廳的名單一直在擴增, 所以一直忘記要去吃吃看.

Anyway, Tapa, means “lid” or “cover” in Spanish. It has a few origins on how it became a type of food, you can Google it yourself if you’re interested. Tapas is just appetizers, or snacks, that could be served cold like olives, and cheese, or warm, like fried baby squids. Portions are small, so you can order a whole bunch and make it into a meal, or just order a few and chat away with friends over a drink or two, or three…  I guess you can also call them finger food or bar food, since it’s often served in a bar.
Tapa在西班牙文裡面的意思是”蓋子”的意思, 那怎麼會變成一種食物的名稱咧? 有興趣的話, 請自己Google一下… Tapas基本上就是開胃菜, 點心的意思, 他有很多很多很多很多種, 有冷的像橄欖, 起司之類的, 也有熱的像是炸小章魚這樣的點心. 份量都是小小的, 你把它當作是晚餐然後點一大堆, 也可以跟朋友聊天喝幾杯的時候點個幾種來配著吃.

The olives are great, I liked it a lot, there are green ones, black ones, and I’m not sure, but I think there are little pearl onions in it too~ I was too hungry… oh, and there are tiny pickles too~

Those are mushrooms on top of the bread drizzled with red wine vinegar.

The baby squids were marinated in red wine vinegar as well. They were good too~

醃橄欖很好吃~~~ 裡面有綠的, 黑的, 還有醃黃瓜跟好像是超級小洋蔥的東西~

麵包上面的是什麼菇我忘了, 反正就是菇類~ 然後那個黑黑的醬是紅酒醋, 甜甜酸酸的, 很好吃~

這個小章魚也是用紅酒醃的~ 也是個好吃的小點~

Deviled eggs. The way they made it was to take out the yolk, and mix it with spices and stuff back in along with shrimp and olives and maybe there are other things, but again, I was too hungry, but I can tell you it’s good!

The spinach omelet was also pretty good, but not a must, whereas the deviled eggs is a must~

這個是魔鬼蛋. 真是好吃~~ 他們把水煮蛋的蛋黃挖出來拌入香料然後再填回去, 再加上蝦子, 橄欖. 一口吃下去還真是不錯咧~~ 我喜歡~

波菜烘蛋也不錯, 口感紮實但是不會乾乾的, 不過… 我會多點一個魔鬼蛋來代替~ 哈~

The fried spicy chicken was tender, you can taste the spices, but it’s mild enough to suit everyone’s taste buds.

The garlic mushrooms is made with fresh button mushrooms. Again, it’s good, but not a must, comes with bread to soak up the sauce~

The Angler Fish Liver was excellent~ Soft and tender, melts in your mouth, Oh YUM! If you like fish liver, you have to try this~

香辣炸雞很嫩, 你可以吃的出他是辣的, 但是是微微的辣, 應該是不吃辣的人都可以接受的~

香蒜磨菇是用新鮮洋菇做的, 有附麵包讓你可以沾著他的汁來吃. 好吃, 但是我覺得不是必點的~

鮟鱇魚肝 – 真的美味~ 如果你喜歡吃魚肝, 你一定要點這道~ 滑嫩, 入口即化~

Stewed Ox Tail was so tender, the meat just fell off the bones~ It comes with the hand made bread/pita thing to scoop up the sauce and the onions in the bowl~

The duck breast… I ate too fast, but I’m almost sure it was just grilled lightly while keeping the center rare, but then again… duck meat is kinda red… Sliced, and topped with a sweet blueberry sauce. I like it a lot~~ So tender and the sauce was great too~

燉牛尾這道菜牛尾燉的軟爛, 肉直接從骨頭上掉下來, 有附上手工的餅讓你來沾/挖醬料理面的洋蔥蔬菜吃~

鴨胸… 它應該是稍微煎烤過, 裡面還是半生熟的, 切片之後再淋上藍莓做的醬汁, 酸酸甜甜, 肉質很嫩, 我自己很愛這道菜~

OK, Paella, the main course. This is the medium size serving that’s meant for six people. Or two hungry people… or maybe just Jay… hahaha~ It has obviously, six big shrimps, fresh~ Mussels, clams, squids, sausage, and one more thing that I didn’t get in my scoop. When you order, the waitress will ask if you want it to be cooked a bit longer cuz if you ever had risotto or paella or even pasta in OTHER countries, the rice/pasta will be cooked on the outside, but the inside still retains a bit of a bite to it.  It’s not raw, it’s cooked through, but still firm so it’s got texture to it. OK, enough with that, the paella was excellent, but wasn’t it suppose to be golden yellow colored? Maybe they ran out of saffron.. hahaha~ but delicious nonetheless~

The Seafood Pasta was also cooked al dente, and again, the seafood was fresh, it’s a basic garlic white wine sauce I think, light and flavorful, but next time, I’d order a large paella instead~ cuz it’s more Spanish… hahaha~

主菜, 海鮮飯. 這份是中的, 大約是給六個人分著吃的, 或者兩個餓人, 或者一個Jay… 哈哈哈~ 這盤飯裡面總共有六隻蝦, 淡菜, 花枝, 香腸, 蛤蠣, 還有一個是什麼我沒有吃到… 當你點這道菜的時候, 服務生會問你要不要煮久一點, 比較”符合國人口味”… 如果你有在其他國家吃過燉飯, 海鮮飯, 或者麵的話, 你就知道其實他們都會把飯/麵煮到中心還有一點點硬, 讓你在吃的時候有多一層的口感, 這個叫做 al dente, 你要翻成彈牙也可以啦~ 如果你不習慣的話, 你會覺得他沒有煮熟, 不過如果你接受度高的話, 建議你試試看這種道地的”彈牙”口感~  不過不曉得是番紅花放得不夠還是用完了, 顏色沒有那麼的鮮豔, 但是我覺得影響不大, 還是好吃~

這盆海鮮麵也是煮到”彈牙”, 裡面有什麼我已經忘了, 主要是海瓜子還有蝦子吧~ 都是新鮮的材料, 配上清淡的.. 應該是大蒜洋蔥番茄白酒的醬汁吧? 很清爽~ 不過下次我再來的時候, 我會點比較大份的海鮮飯, 畢竟海鮮飯比較西班牙~~ 哈哈哈~

Overall, it’s a nice restaurant with a variety of tapas to choose from. The atmosphere is casual, the services were good. I can’t really say if the tapas are authentic Spanish or not, since I’ve only been to the ones in the States but not in Spain, but the ingredients are fresh, and flavored nicely, worth a try~ Great for a light dinner with a couple glasses of Sangria, or a place to have couple of drinks and snacks before your main meal.

But of course you can order a whole bunch to have it as your dinner, however, remember to bring your credit card~ It’s priced higher than most restaurants especially since the portions are small, but I thought it was within a reasonable range given that all the ingredients were fresh. Besides, it’s not meant to be an all-you-can-eat buffet anyway~ There are still a whole bunch of stuff that we didn’t try, and yes, I’d go back again.

整體來說, 他們的氣氛, 服務都不錯, 還有很多的tapas的選擇, 說真的, 我沒有辦法評論這些小點/點心跟西班牙的有什麼差別, 因為我也只有在去過美國的tapas bar但沒有去過西班牙的, 不過他們的材料都很新鮮, 調味也適合我, 值得去試試看~ 我覺得很適合下班後來喝個一杯, 吃點小東西, 在續攤去吃晚餐, 或者你晚餐不想吃太多, 來吃點小東西喝個兩杯Sangria也很舒服~

當然啦, 你也可以點一堆東西來吃到飽, 不過請帶你的信用卡~ 因為這裡的價位屬於比較中高的價位, 尤其又以他們的份量來說, 他們算是不便宜. 不過我是覺得不會到無法接受的地步, 畢竟他們的材料用的不錯又新鮮, 而且他本來也不是要讓你大吃大喝的地方~ 今天吃完後, 他們菜單上還有很多東西我們沒有吃到, 所以我還會再回去的~~~

今天晚餐是跟阿圖還有理查一起. 阿圖說要我幫他拍相親照因為他穿了他在阿姆斯買的Zara的皮衣, 還有碳纖維框的雷朋… 陳理察似乎不削跟他照相, 所以把眼睛閉上了…

Peanut is not far from our hotel, about a 10-minute stroll down the street. You’ll see it soon after you pass the The Great Alaskan Bush Company~ It’s up to you to decided whether to satisfy your tummy first or your…. lust…

我們要去的這家花生農場離旅館很近, 散步10分鐘就可以到. 就在ABC在往下走一點就到了. 你可以自己決定你要先填飽肚子, 還是填飽你的慾望先….

We got a nice window seat with a little stream running next to it, and the NBA Finals game 3 is playing on TV, but since Richard and I are flying later, we are stuck with sodas… Alto got himself a Alaskan Ale or something…. Next time…

餐廳的旁邊有個小溪, 然後今天剛好是NBA決賽的第三場比賽, 理察和我等等要飛, 所以只有阿圖叫了杯啤酒… 下次… 下次…

The waiter recommended the prime rib panini, and it was pretty good~ It’s cooked well done, but is actually pretty tender~ Kinda reminded me of Lawry’s Cutlery… hmmm…. the fries were great, almost like the thick cut potato chips~ The dips were ranch and some Cajun spiced mayonnaise I think, like it~

經過了服務生的介紹, 我點了這個烤牛肉三明治. 雖然他是全熟的, 但是還滿嫩的, 有點讓我懷念起Lawry’s Cutlery的prime rib sandwich… 薯條/片, 有點像是厚片的洋芋片, 炸的脆脆的, 然後沾醬是ranch… 就是… ㄟ… 鄉村醬嗎? 台灣幾乎沒有這個醬… 所以我也不曉得叫什麼… 然後另外那個是ㄟ… Cajun… Cajun是要怎麼翻阿? 我懶的查字典, 請自己google…

Overall, I think it’s pretty good, and it’s got outdoor seating too~ It’s more like a sports bar than a restaurant, but the food is great, and they also do breakfast~ Next time, I’m going back to try their pizza and beer~~~
整體來說, 這個地方比較像是個運動酒吧, 餐點的選擇還滿多的, 而且他們還有做早餐咧~ 下次我要來試試他們的pizza還有啤酒~~~

Jay and I are off today, so we went to have a afternoon coffee, and let him play with my iPad. Then we went to Qsquare, the new shopping mall next to the Taipei Main Station, which is also the Taipei Bus Station building… I personally think Bus Terminal is a better description of the place, so I’m just gonna call it Taipei Bus Terminal…  Walked around the place for a bit, cuz we both never been, ate dinner, and bought a few things at the Hand Tailung, one of my favorite shopping places~ oh, and also look at hot chicks… hahaha~
我今天跟Jay去喝下午茶, 看雜誌, 玩iPad. 然後後來又去了京站逛逛, 吃飯, 在我最喜歡的商店之一, 台隆手創館, 買了點東西, 當然, 還有看辣妹… 哈哈哈~~~

This is a coffee shop near my house, again, everything is near my house~~ it’s got free wifi, magazines, and a bunch of comic books. Most importantly, they have a patio for smokers!

在京站碰到了王氏夫婦, 其實是他們打電話給我說他們要去京站看史瑞克問我要不要一起, 我本來沒有要去, 但是後來我跟Jay想說沒有去過才去晃晃的.

The place is actually quite big, got lots of selections, but I did notice there are quite a few SE Asian cuisines, Malaysian, Thai, Vietnam… a couple of Japanese, a couple of Taiwanese… a few desserts, and a couple of bakeries.

美食街很大… 很多吃的… 有很多家都是賣東南亞食物, 馬來西亞, 泰國, 越南… 然後有兩三家日式的, 台式的, 賣甜點的, 還有兩家麵包店.

I was hungry, I wanted to eat everything!! The beef glass noodle thing was actually pretty good, it was from a Thai food stall. The veggie hot pocket thing was pretty good too, and so was the scallion pancake. All were better than I expected, but then again… I was hungry… so… Oh! one of my favorite ramen places Makotoya, and my favorite omelette rice place Coco Ichibanya is also here! but didn’t see it till after we finished our dinner…

這個牛肉粉絲堡還滿好吃的, 那個花素餡餅還有蔥油餅也滿好吃的, 三樣都超出我的預料, 不過… 我當是滿餓的, 可能不準.. 哈哈哈~ 喔對! 我最喜歡的拉麵之一, 誠屋, 這裡也有啦, 還有我最喜歡的蛋包飯餐廳Coco一番屋也在這裡~ 不過是我們吃完才看到…

This is what I got from the Hands shop, a big ass ice maker~ Good for whisky glass~~ bigger ice cube means melts slower.  This is the poor men’s substitute for making a big ass ice cube, there’re two better options… which I’m still thinking… hmmm…

在台隆裡面, 我買了這個窮人用的製冰盒~ 它可以做出大塊的冰塊, 比較不容易融化, 適合拿來喝whisky~~ 這種大冰塊的製冰器, 還有兩種比較貴的選擇, 我還在考慮中…

還買了這個隨身的菸灰缸… 還是菸灰管?

Saw this static discharger thing… You use this to touch the metals first, and the electricity will be discharged into it, and a light or something will come one, and it’s free of static electricity, so you won’t get zapped! I’m gonna try this on my next flight!

還買了這個靜電東西… 拿他先觸碰金屬的門把阿什麼的, 他會把附在上面的電吸進去… 然後有個燈還是什麼東西會顯示的… 我明天在飛機上要來給他試試看~~

Jay got this for me on his Kyoto/Kobe/Osaka trip last month, it was the second most expensive nail clipper they had at the shop~ Hahahaha~ I can’t read Japanese so I’m not sure what is so special about it, but it clips nails very well~~ recommend it~

這個是Jay上個月去他的京阪神之旅幫我買回來的, 全店裡面第二貴的指甲刀~~~ 我看不懂日文, 所以我不曉得他為什麼比較貴… 但是他真的滿好剪的~~

Qsquare is actually a pretty nice place to shop, spacious, high ceilings, and new~ I don’t recognize a lot of the brands they carry, maybe I’m too old… and I don’t see a lot of people buying stuff… so… I don’t know… There are actually quite a few restaurants on the 4th floor, they were all packed since it’s Friday night, but it’s the regular ones you see at other shopping malls… 
京站其實還滿不錯的, 空間寬敞, 又挑高, 又新~ 不過他們這裡很多的品牌我都不認得,可能我太老了吧… 然後我看那個提袋率滿低的… 所以… 恩… 四樓其實還有蠻多餐廳的, 不過就是平常百貨公司會有的那幾家… 不過因為是禮拜五所以全部爆滿…
